West Central CEO - MACCRAY, KMS, CMCS and RCW Schools

The partnership between MACCRAY Public Schools, KMS Public Schools, Central Minnesota Christian School, Renville County West Public School and numerous business partners was awarded a $30,225 LYFT Pathways grant to support the creation of an entrepreneurial opportunities class.

The purpose of this project is to help students learn about entrepreneurship through direct interaction and mentoring with area businesses. Students will visit twenty to thirty local businesses throughout the year and create their own businesses which they will showcase at an annual trade show. Students will learn all aspects of business including human resources, accounting, economics, marketing, innovation and more. In addition, students will gain awareness of area careers by interacting with many different people in different jobs and businesses will build relationships with the workforce of the future.

The project is based in part on the KCEO program successfully implemented by Kandiyohi County area schools in the past. A portion of the funds will be spent to support educational instruction and initial development of the CEO program. The CEO model provides the perfect opportunity for students to learn directly from entrepreneurial experts.

During the 2020-21 school year, 14 students took this course.
