The partnership between Windom Public School, Heron Lake-Okabena School, SWWC's Alternative Learning Center in Windom, Toro, and Fast was awarded a $50,000 LYFT Pathways grant to support a CTE facility that will better prepare students for fields in welding, CAD, automotive, carpentry and agricultural sciences.
The purpose of this project is to provide students with hands-on industry experience and knowledge of local career opportunities through partnerships with area businesses. The CTE center will initially expand classes in manufacturing, engineering, and metals. A portion of the funds will be spent to purchase updated equipment for the CTE center. The project is based in part on the Eagle Manufacturing program successfully implemented by Windom schools in the past.
During the 2020-21 school year, 73 students took this course.
During the 2021-22 school year, 142 students took this course.
