A partnership between BOLD and Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart High Schools, Renville County Hospital, and Minnesota West Community and Technical College was awarded a $12,090 LYFT grant to design and conduct a one-semester Introduction to Medical Careers course in the Fall of 2018.
Students will meet at the Renville County Hospital two days each week for labs and guest speakers. The other three days will be spent completing on-line assignments and participating in job shadowing in health care facilities in their home communities. The class will be for one high school and three college credits and will be based on the Minnesota Health Care Core Curriculum (HCCC).

- Behaviors for success in the healthcare industry
- Teamwork and communication skills including conflict management
- Healthcare ethics
- Healthcare safety and standard precautions
- Respect for staff and client diversity
- Legal issues in healthcare
