Litchfield High School (ISD 465), in partnership with Dassel-Cokato High School and business partners (Meeker Memorial Hospital, Kids of the Kingdom Daycare, and Bait & Hook Restaurant), received $49,657 in LYFT Pathways funding to provide industry food certifications such as ServSafe and Food Handler to students enrolled in culinary courses as well as employees in partnering businesses.
Courses will be enhanced through these certifications as well as access to up-to-date equipment. Partnering schools and businesses will benefit from training staff as Certified ServSafe Managers, reducing future costs for training and certification. Students will gain not only skilled credentials in safety and sanitation but also work experiences that expose them to career opportunities in culinary, nutrition, food inspection, healthcare, and more.
During the 2020-21 school year, 231 students took part in this program.
During the 2021-22 school year, 350 students took part in this program.
