The partnership between Bird Island Cultural Centre, BOLD School, BLHS School, and numerous area businesses was awarded a $50,000 LYFT Pathways grant to provide students with in-depth technical cinematic and documentary film making skills by filming the stories of community elders.
The purpose of this project is to help students learn cinematic and interviewing skills required for effective internet presence, advertising and customer support. Students will also gain an awareness of the economic importance of art, art production and artists. Following fundamental instruction, students will form “production teams” who will work directly with area business experts as they learn by creating a documentary. Funds will be used to purchase equipment and support instruction.
