A partnership between Glencoe-Silver Lake, Lester Prairie, and BOLD high schools; Ridgewater College; and a wide range of business partners received a $49,984 LYFT Pathways award to develop curriculum to help students develop new skills in Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and to purchase and share industry specific equipment between schools.
The high school instructors for the courses will work with their industry partners and Ridgewater College to be trained, so the curriculum will be delivered based on local industry needs. Local businesses have offered to provide additional financial support for equipment and supplies to help sustain the program. Ridgewater College will provide students the opportunity to explore careers in Machine Tool Technology, Non-Destructive Testing, and Robotics. Students can earn articulated college credit through the courses that will help them advance their college degrees or certificates. Additionally, all three schools will collaborate to offer local and regional industry tours for students so they can see the pathways to future careers.
During the 2018-19 school year, 369 students participated in this program.
During the 2019-20 school year, 150 students participated in the program.
During the 2020-21 school year, 170 students participated in this program.
