Certified Nursing Assistant and Construction Trades - Ortonville and CGB Schools

Ortonville Area School District, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley District, along with Ortonville Area Health Services, Nelson Electric and Ortonville Plumbing and Heating revived a $26,642 LYFT Pathways grant to offer new shared CTE courses in Nursing Assistant and Building Construction to high school students from both schools.

Students will have opportunities to become a Certified Nursing Assistant to support regional healthcare organizations. The CNA students will be introduced to health occupations and careers while learning important information about human anatomy and physiology, observing patients, basic patient care principles, patients' legal rights, tracking and reporting patient information and safety protocols. Construction Trades students will participate in a complete house build from concept, to design, to creation by partnering with area construction and trades businesses within the Big Stone Area. They will be introduced to material estimating, blueprint reading, wall framing, interior and exterior siding, floor installation, electrical, plumbing, heating, shingling and window installation.

During the 2020-21 school year, 14 students took the CNA course.

During the 2021-22 school year, 18 students took the CNA course.
