Willmar Middle School, DREAM Technical Academy, Employment Plus, MinnWest Technology, and the Willmar Area Chamber of Commerce (and their members) received a $12,000 LYFT Pathways grant to start a C.E.O. in the classroom project.
C.E.O. in the classroom gives business executives the opportunity to engage with 8th grade students, talk with them about their career choices and how decisions in high school will open up future opportunities. This program includes a 45 minute presentation by a business executive that includes interactive conversations, a chance for the presenter to discuss their personal career paths, a look into options after high school, and much more. This program is designed to show classroom students that they are in control of their future educational goals through personal choices and further education paths. C.E.O in the Classroom is projected to serve 300 students the first year and then expand to other schools in the future.
During the 2021-22 school year, 535 students from Willmar Public Schools, DREAM Technical Academy, Willmar Community Christian School and Central Minnesota Christian School took part in this course.
