A partnership between Red Rock Central (RCC), WWG and Wabasso High Schools, NAPA Auto Parts, and Dan’s Repair has been awarded $32,245 in LYFT Pathways funds to offer two sections of a full-year Automotive Technology course to 24 students.
Funds will be used to purchase additional equipment and supplies, and to cover a portion of instructor and transportation costs. The course was not available to students in the Wabasso school district prior to this partnership. Students will be bussed to RRC in Lamberton five days each week for the 90-minute course and will receive hands-on instruction in Intro to Auto Tech; Engines; Computer Systems; Fuel Systems; Electrical Systems; and Suspension, Steering and Brakes. Students can gain up to five articulated college credits at Minnesota West (and other two-year colleges) by successfully completing the course. Business partners will provide discounted parts, serve on the program advisory committee and offer industry tours for the students throughout the year.
During the 2018-19 school year, 12 students took this course.
During the 2021-22 school year, 11 students took this course.
